yes I have the original TV8 and to be honest, nothing at all wrong with the current set up, just that I saw someone selling a BMW conversion with a 3.08 diff. I feel it may be a little too longe legged for the TV8 though..
Hi Mike,
There's a big choice of BMW ratios, so you may be able to sell that one to cover the cost of another. I don't have any experience with how the TV8 would feel with that ratio, I guess it would give around 30mph/1000 rpm with overdrive? Personally I quite like long legged cars, I know it dulls the performance a bit but you can always change gear (if manual) but you don't want to be changing gear on every incline.
If it's the complete BMW rear end I would have thought it's quite a bit of work to make the change, particularly if your current setup is working well.
Hi Mike, I'm running a 2.45 S diff behind the Tr. V8 and Manual OD. 2450 @ 100Ks. Although I'm happy with it I wouldn't want a higher ratio. I've kept the 3.7 complete in case i wanted to change back
Cheers Ian A
Yes it does reduce acceleration slightly and an earlier change down at low revs to keep up the torque curve a bit but on the open road it's not really noticeable. I'm happy and the 3.7 won't be going back in.
If you decide to change you will need a rear diff cover from a Mk1 saloon or any of the Estates because Triumph in its wisdom changed the Mk2 saloon mounts or you can modify you Stag cover by one hole.
Cheers Ian A
