    Cylinder head. Cam follower damage

Out on a club run on Wednesday and engine developed a rattle about 30 miles from home. Nursed it home, unwisely, and now have damage where the follower was making too much room for itself. Exhaust valve, no 8 cylinder... Rear on nearside. Cylinder still holding pressure, about 160, so no valve damage as such.
My question, is this repairable and if so how?

A bronze sleeve can be made up to repair it. If
it’s just that one it might be cheaper than another head.

Never seen that happen before, unless it's the picture it looks to have opened quite a bit.
Something must have caught between the bucket and bore to start off the severe wear/cant movement.
Is there any heavy score/gouge marks on the side of the bucket?
You might not have taken the camshaft off yet though to see.
          Mike.

Thanks MJH. Haven't got that far yet. I'll take a good look when the head is on the bench and report back. Could be a week away from that!

Update Cam bucket has split.Presuming remainder is around the valve spring. Signs of an older fracture. Off to the machine shop in the morning

The machine shop will need a set of new buckets to make up the repair sleeve, probably.
Target is size on size at 0 degrees Celsius.

Good news. The machine shop put me in touch with a specialist engine repairer. Damage to the head is actually very limited and the bore is clear beyond the first few mms. He will machine it out to take a +2 size bucket. I queried whether it might need to be sleeved and he politely told me he has been repairing damaged heads from all over the UK and Ireland for almost 50 years.
Thanks for your support folks, otherwise I would have been trying to find another head.

                      Update
I got the cylinder head back yesterday. Machining the camfollower housing cost me £72, and a new bucket and valve added a little more But add on the other bits I had done, Head resurfaced, valves & seats , lot of helicoils etc, and I'm told I have had my Christmas present.
Now to get it all together again.
                      Thanks again folks.

Good news Brian, any idea what the failure was caused by or is it a chinesium cam bucket? Are the remainder going to fail?

Brian, did they get the oversize bucket (usually supplied +0.010”) ground down to +0.002”?
