Tubular manifolds to intermediate pipes issue

Hi, I've fitted phoenix manifold to my car and have cut the previously fitted stainless intermediate pipes to length. I've noticed that the link pipes and intermediate ones are exactly the same diameter and of course won't slide fit together. Has anyone else come across this before ?

    Many thanks

Are your intermediate pipes larger diameter than standard? The curved link pipes supplied by Phoenix are sized for standard diameter exhausts i.e. the same diameter as the tubular collector.

Hi Craig, I would suggest you take the offending pipes to an exhaust specialist and get them to stretch 2 of the ends so they will slip into their mates.

Thanks for your replies. I'm not sure on the standard size of the intermediate pipes, the exhaust was fitted whilst in the ownership of the previous owner. I might pop along to my local STS and see if they can help me. Many thanks guys

The clamp size is 1/3/4” if that helps?

Could simply sleeve with two clamps.
BMW do this on new cars.

              Hi Craig,

I got actual Phoenix link pipes from Rimmers years back and they were the correct size to fit into the front box - If I were doing the job again though I'd probably use theexisting pipes cut to sizeand do as Mike suggests above..

              Cheers

I can speak from experience, the sleeve method will help you in the future for removing that pipe as it’s similar to a flange , in that the system is all pushed together making it difficult to separate regards Graham

Thanks for all your replies, I've gone with the sleeve method so that both pipes butt together and then sleeved and clamped. Just waiting for the parts to arrive now
