Hand brake adjustment

Hi, I have new rear brakes ( shoes ) new OE cable and have bled the system. I have taken the cable off the rear levers ( removed clevis pin etc ) and have moved the levers back....meaning they are pulled back towards the rear of the car and tied down.
What do I need to do next so my handbrake is working as it should?

Ensure there’s no lip on the drums ( machine off if there is)
Make sure it’s quiet/there’s no noise.
Operate the brake pedal, listen for clicks as the ratchet & pawl operate to take up the drum to shoe gap.
ensure the drums are not binding.
replace the Clevis pins & retention split pins or r-clips
adjust the cable tension
ensure the drums still rotates freely when handbrake is off.
done.

Chris Spain popped up a useful video on yootoob recently on this very subject, however didnt seem to have a clue

fit the adjusters the right way round seems to be rule #1 He was corrected by Ian Milothedog, a stag owner who is no longer a contributor nor even a member of SOC.

The surgery get a tenner each time they mention alcohol or tobacco. ….paid for from the duty!

Getting hold of my GP throughout the covidz has been next to impossible. You have to get past Cerberus the Receptionist who needs to know everything before she organises a call back which never seems to happen.

If it does I have to tell the GP what I weigh and my blood pressure. Asked of my alcohol intake the answer is always "just enough". He told me to drop to below 16stone 100kg whatever that is! I did, now he tell me to drop to 15stone ad cut the old booze to below 20 units a week. yeah right

My last conversation with the doctor when asked about my general wellness concluded "so if I diet, stop drinking and continue to give up smoking! Do I still die?"

I have done as above and the brake is pretty good.

How many clicks the handbrake lever should I have from off to hard on.

aim for 4 or 5 clicks I think. Whatever you need for the tip of the handle to come up by 2-3 inches from off. Be aware that if there is too much slack in the cable then it will kiss the propshaft when you are driving and make a most odd noise
