    Removing scratches from Window glass

My friend worked for a glass company here in USA called guardian glass. He managed the production line for 4 years. I asked him what material can remove scratch's from glass. He said use Cerium Oxide. Amazon have a few kits. I plan to try one to remove a wiper arm scratch on my screen. I will report back.

Sujit, look forward to hearing how you get on. It's something I'd like to sort out.

I had severe scratches / microchips on an old Mercedes, I was told by a windscreen outfit that toughened glass can be polished out it’s not too bad / deep or not too many scratches & that laminated is too difficult to polish without affecting the diffraction.
Also not that worthwhile due to the time taken / needed if replacements are available…. But those pesky trims might change that view!!!
Be interested to hear what happens when you try removing.

Looking forward to your results Sujit. I also have wiper scratches. They're small but annoying none the less.
I've also seen those kits on Amazon, just never pulled the trigger.
Is this similar to what you've purchased?

Funny enough I ordered one of those kits on last week and it was delivered last Friday. I have fairly light wiper scratching that I’m hoping will polish out, attempting today. Will post results.

I plan to talk to my friend again this week and ask some more questions. Most of the kits available on Amazon say instructions not included so I will ask the method to use. There are a few kits and he sent me a link of a more expensive kit with one polishing wheel. The wheel could be a critical component.
I've got some other projects in the pipeline and am not sure show soon I will get to this. But I do recall someone here asking what to use to polish out glass and he mentioned Cerium Oxide. it also seems from comments on Amazon, that patience is needed.

I bought a kit a few weeks ago to remove very light wiper scratches.

I have had a good go and it has improved the mark but not removed it.

I have spent 1/2 an hour or so, and will spend a bit more before giving up.

It's called Glass Polish from glasspolishshop.com

It dos mention it is not abrasive.!!!

Here is another update after talking to my friend last night He says the particle size of the material matters, but not sure if anyone lists that. He said not use a buffer on the end of a drill. Use a soft sponge. The material is less abrasive than glass but it can scratch it so be careful. If you have a scratch which you can feel with your finger nail, chances are it wont remove it.
Keep the material suspended in the liquid being used. Some kits say to use certain types of water. In the factory they used di-ionized water. Read the label if it can be used with regular tap water. For a $20 kit he says its still worth a try to remove some scratches, but try on a conspicuous place first. Based on this, I'll hold off for now as I have other projects to get on with.
