    Lighting problem

Hi, Can someone help please. The indicators stopped working also the hazards, this is only after I took off the flasher unit. The fuses in the fuse box are ok.
Also the lights work except the brake lights... they were working ok before. Any questions please ask. I am at a loss as to what happened.
    Thanks in advance.

Anything else not working? Which flasher unit were you changing?

Fuse 3-4 feeds the turn flasher and brake lights but it also feeds the washer pump, fuel and temp gauges and tacho (the rest of the lights are on a different circuit altogether)

The Hazard flasher is on a different circuit along with the interior lights so its difficult to imagine a single problem here.

It would seem that maybe most of your problems could be the fuse holder its self . I fitted the stagwebber new fuse holder that uses modern blade fuses and all my problems went away.

I got 2 lying about. A friend told me he fitted it then discarded it because the contacts were too close together. Also when you piggy back some of the connections they became even closer. He had a problem of the wires touching because of it.

It seems you may be right about the fuse box being the problem. Because the indicators just came on as if by magic....I did clean the contacts and ' jiggle ' things about

Now when the lights are on and I press the brake the right hand light goes out but the left one has the light and stop light only.

Sounds like classic problem of poor/missing earth connections. I would spend some time checking each light has a decent earth connection by checking continuity between the metal body of the lamp holder and the car body (earth).
