    Door windows

I had the door glass put back in sometime back, today was the first time I tested them out. Both windows only go halfway down and go up ok. I lubricated them with WD40 but knew it would not cure the problem even before I tried because they both went down halfway.
What could be the problem...........not assembled correctly?? Hope its an easy fix.

Possibly / probably the wrong channel fitted. The one usually supplied when the original size became unavailable, was too narrow to allow the glass to move freely. A few years ago, the Tooling Fund arranged for the correct size to be re-manufactured. Perhaps you could check with your supplier that he sold you the correct one.

Hi, thanks for replying..... the whole assembly is original, its the one the car was built with, the rust testifies to that

Wrong length bolts holding the motor unit onto the door.
One of them has to be shorter or the lever will not go down far enough.

Don't ask me how I know that.

That’s absolutely the case! I found that one out the hard way too!

Absolutely correct!! My friend who done the door window panes did tell me something about it....but assumed all was ok. Changed both bolts for shorter ones and the driver side went all the way down but not the pssenger. On close inspection found that one of the rails for the door catch/lock was hindering the travel so bent it away from the window traveling down....and now all working ok.

            Thanks guys for your help.
