    Ethanol fuel pipe compatible?

Looking to replace front to rear metal and rubber fuel pipes to be compatible with whatever fuel is available these days, whats the opinion on copper (Kunifer type) metal pipe and any recs for flexible?

    Cheers

Just looked it up - great thanks. And I think cupro/nickel for metal line?

10mm microbore plumbing pipe is cheap and you have the option of solder or compression fittings

Also use a quality brand hose like Cohline or Gates.

I have had unbranded R9 hose crack on the outer layer after only 12 months. R7 is also ok for low pressure systems and I have been using Gates multi fuel 3225 with good results for the last couple of years on the Stag, and Gates Barricade on the MGB for 3 years.

Before you start your engines, equip them with Gates fuel hoses. We’ve engineered our fuel line hoses at the cutting-edge of fuel-efficient, environmentally-safe design, so your engine will perform with superior power.

I didn’t use the Barricade hose on the Stag as the clamps need to be very tight to get a good seal due to there being a hard thin inner liner on the hose, and I didn’t think it would seal onto the main nylon fuel pipe.

            Dave,

Do you know if the standard Stag rigid nylon hose is E10 tolerant? I'm in the process of fitting the LD Parts fuel pump, and have R9 flexible for the joins. There's nothing wrong with my current pump, but it's been in place for about 20 years, so probably not up to ethanol spec.

I was looking at this type yesterday but wasn't sure if it was sufficient, I've seen others talking about Culpro/Nickel. Understand it will be water resistant but unsure on ethanol.

like Dave I'm under the impression that the std nylon front to back fuel pipe is good to go? are we right?

also the small flexi rubber pipe gets forgotten on the front bulk head just above the starter half way up hard to get too.

The spec DJT quoted seems ideal, along with Nigele - thanks. I'm assuming alloy parts (tank + carbs) will be affected and unlikely they'll be upgraded in our car lifetime so will need regular checks.

                    Thanks for all answers

This is the one I want to replace, its been on there 45yrs anyway and rather have confidence its going to outsee life of car! I'm wary of petrol with plastics anyway, I read (maybe incorrectly) that my green plastic emergency fuel can is no longer be used with new fuels....?

There was also one tucked up under the floor by the rear seat at the back on mine that connected the plastic pipe running from inside the boot to the plastic pipe that ran from back to front of the car.

Not sure if the short section was to repair damage to the plastic pipe in the past as it seemed strange to me to having the plastic pipe start in the boot, go through the floor, into a short rubber pipe then back to plastic.

Anyway, my Stag pointed out this oversight of mine by very kindly leaving me a trail of petrol running across the floor to show me where it was.....

and I had similar problem when I first got mine, pushed the plastic pipe back (for some reason) and suddenly the floor got wetter - must be a very vulnerable area!

That looks on last legs - well done for spotting it. TBH I've never overhauled my fuel line, just repaired as required, maybe E10 is a good prompt . Ironically pulled into Tesco's earlier with Stag red fuel light on and there was only Diesel and E5 available - no need to worry abt E10 for the moment....
