    Rear seat support trim

Hi - wondering if somebody can clarify what should be the extent of this trim? I received a metre of vinyl along with all of the other goodies I ordered from Aldridge last year, and the parts manual seems to indicate that the material should be applied to the metal frame in between the cubby panels. However, looking at my photos from when I stripped the car, there appears to have been two small "patches" just to the rear of each B post - I'm not sure why these would be needed?

Grateful for any advice. Thanks - Dave

The ‘patches’ are just to cover the holes for the rear subframe mount.

Thanks for the feedback - the patches I'm referring to are in the area just beneath the hardtop locking plates. I guess there's potentially a gap here where otherwise the painted frame may be visible, and I see that they are also present on my donor car -

Mk1 panels side panels are different than the mk2 panels in the area. I recall the box is larger on the mk1s and that top metal rail is different too. The mk1 panel top edge curves over the top just below the chrome cap. That vinyl piece is not needed on mk1s. On mk2 panels that top curved edge is not there, easier to fabricate i can only assume, and the vinyl is to hide the exposed frame color. My mk2 shell had those pieces and I thought the pieces on my mk1 were missing. I made some from share vinyl and fitted on the mk1. That added vinyl material on my mk1 prevents side panel sitting properly. I had to remove the vinyl.

Thanks Sujit - that's good information which perhaps isn't readily available elsewhere. Mine is a Mk2, though looking at the new panels I got from Aldridge I may not need those additional patches - I guess I'll play it by ear when I come to putting the panels in.

I did mine with Aldridge panels and don’t remember seeing, or indeed installing those patches. I did get the strip around the back wrong initially and had to peel it off and make it right though!

Back in USA. and am working on my Stag. Here is a close up photo of the Mk1 rear panel. You can clearly see the vinyl wraps over the top in that area.
