Just FYI - SOC Spares are totally separate from the Club. Historically, there was a connection. Very highly regarded parts & service.
White 1976 build ("Mk2") only a few mods

I think you may be getting confused with the parts that the Tooling Fund have been involved in, which are listed on the SOCTFL page in the magazine. These can be discounted to Club members by some of the Stag parts suppliers.

Eg there is a member discount on new door handle bowls bought from the soctfl partner EJWard.

SOC spares is a good supplier as well.

Hi George. Historically SOCTFL has been mandated by the members to fund projects that would not otherwise be done as other the investment or the profitability (or lack of) made a project unfeasible. The benefit to the member was the availability of the parts to help keep their car running. Unfortunately anyone buying those parts also enjoyed the benefit whether they were a club member or not.

Then LD parts started to offer a discount across their range which was, obviously, very welcome.

The use of club money seemed to not benefit the member enough and so when SOCTFL was asked by the club how we could help the wider aims of the club (particularly helping to increase or at least stabilise membership numbers rather than watching them decline) we came up with a scheme (trialled on the new door bowls) to offer the member, whose money we had used to fund the project, a substantial discount on the door bowls. This seems a sensible and just way to operate and was obviously popular as we sold our projection for 4 years sales in one year, and so is becoming part of our “business as normal” way of working.

As more projects come to fruition (it is a slow process) so more benefit will accrue to the members with the aim of making the membership fee a no brainer as the financial benefits heaped on top of the technical and social benefits are enjoyed by those that subsidise the projects.

                  hope that helps

I buy from SOC often., I agree they are a good supplier. The only thing I have noticed is which I don't mind at all, is that I personally find their delivery to be quite slow.
Maybe its just me........ or the area I live in ........deepest downtown West London.

Not had a problem with SOC delivery speed here in north Suffolk, but do find that their postage is cheaper than some which is welcome

Agree, but when the postage is expensive I tend to buy other items I don't really need, in a false sense of justification in paying for the high cost of postage, thinking I would make a saving.

It’s the postage costs that make buying parts expensive, I’m of the belief that suppliers earn money off the postage costs , just my humble opinion . Regards Graham

Because I'm stupid , I've just added up what I have sent on delivery £384.42 + 20%vat = £431.30 must get out more. I try an wait until I need lots of bits but doesn't always work like that and you end up with a garage full of bits that may never get used
