    Brake Pads

    Hi All

I need to fit new front brake pads fairly soon & have seen advertised both standard pads & the more expensive "green" kevlar type. Does anyone know ofthe benefits, if any from using the green ones?

This will be the first time I change the pads, anything to look outfor? tips etc!

    Regards

    Phil

I fitted Keblar green stuff to my MGB GT, they made the pedal feel more firm and didn't (hardly) any brake dust.

I've just fitted green stuff pads, bought from Paddocks.

I've not driven too far in them yet or used them in anger. I did find that they were a tight fit, I had to peel the sticky label off the back to get them in, I've no idea if that is what you are supposed to do or not:?.

I used new pins and clips too, not much money and just not worth messing with rusty old bits when dealing with brakes.

        Hi Kevin,
Can you give me an idea on cost for the pads and pins etc. please?

Pads were £30 and the fitting kit £4.50 (plus postage, but I bought some other bits too). Standard pads are a lot cheaper in % terms (£8.50)

Me too. No problems in 3 years.

Also one of my shims was missing, but there is no way the pad would have gone in if it had have been there. A stag quirk? Manufacturing tolerances? I've changed plenty of brakes over the years, but this was the first time on my stag...I won't lose any sleep over it.:?

Green Stuff pads give a very nice 'feel' to the brakes and have the advantage of reduced brake dust on the wheels.
