All the parts catalogues have been made available to our webeditor in digital format for inclusion within the website. Don't know when he will manage it. They are unlikely to be in searchable format but the parts catalogues have indexes which are in part number order, which should help our Australian friends. I have not made the current one available as it is still available through parts suppliers - the rest cannot any longer be bought so I think that it is reasonable to make them available for serious users.

Everyone should be aware that there are five parts catalogues and there are differences in each of them. The ones prior to 1976 tend to have more detail about earlier parts and change information points however, I have them on my computer and tend to use all of them - especially when writing the articles in the magazine. I have them split into the basic sections - engine, gearbox, suspension, etc. which makes them easier to reference. If anyone wants to contact me about these then my details are in the front of every magazine - e-mail is preferred rather than PM as I find PMing a bit of a pain - sorry.

Apologies to Drew who has put time into making a parts catalogue available in the Technical Section but it is something which the Club have to address, how we store and distribute information within a digital World. Perhaps 'links' are the answer.

On my personal website and, of course, only for my own private use when I'm out of office I have the Triumph Stag Graphic Catalogue. Took me ages to scan it and clean it up as it was NOT A4! It has a listing of all the part numbers in numerical order and where the parts belong. It's quite an old document, so some parts only applicable to later models may not be included. Website address is in my profile.

By the way, it also contains lists of parts which are used on other Triumph cars.

Interesting info thanks guys. The Rimmers website is very useful for the parts they hold but it's not comprehensive. It's also not ideal if you want to search for a part by description rather than part number.
I've been playing around with OCR options, I haven't found a great solution yet and the font/text in the parts catalogue is awful.
Interesting to know there are many versions of the parts catalogue. I'm working with April 1978 version Part No. 519579 -sounds like it may not be ideal as it has less description - I was hoping it would be the most complete being late in the production run.

Agree on the parts book,

Rimmers site.. whilst there you can type in the description and select “Triumph stag” on the left column under “car models” and that would whittle it down to Stag parts only..

You are correct that's exactly what I'm looking for. I need to inventory the parts and add a storage location so I can find them, condition (some are used parts) and price to a spreadsheet ideally, but a database would work too.

A lot of the smaller parts are conveniently stored in drawers by part number. If someone wants a widget I'd like to be able to cross reference the a part number in one step - Bigger issue for parts that won't fit in the drawers.

I think your best bet is get a pdf of section7, and use OCR to convert to spreadsheet.. there are some free or limited trials (some are 100 pages) Maybe Adobi pro DC? It allows a 14 day trial and even then $20 a month.. shouldn’t take that long? Perhaps you know someone who has access to pro DC through work? Mine went away when I retired!

There used to be a Triumph Stag website with all of the parts listed.. I cant find it now.. but maybe just type the numbers in to Rimmers website, that would cover a lot of the parts, section 7 is around as a pdf, I think it could be run through OCR software and made searchable.

Edit.. It may have been the triumphstag.net website which is a mess.

I just looked and found the parts look-up page http://www.triumphstag.net/start/index.htm. It looks like this is a SQL database, maybe no longer working owing to server upgrades in the meantime? The info on the site says "This site was conceived and its design collaborated by Triumph Stag Enthusiasts David Redfern and Glenn Merrell. Dave built all of site functions himself over several years of work". So it looks like Dave must have spent a fair amount of some time digitising at least some of the parts list, either manually or using OCR.

I thought about applying OCR to the "Hardware Catalogue for use with Standard Triumph Vehicles" - I would find this extremely useful. I don't know of an app that will recognise the fractional sizes for diameter or length, so I concluded that these would have to be manually edited-in to the scanned file with the OCR software I have. This would be quite a long process, but if it could be done a look-up app for the standard fixings would greatly benefit all Standard-Triumph owners.

Dave and Glenn also spotted the benefit of being able to add alternative identifiers for the same part, for example a HB911 bolt which Triumph specified as 3/8" UNF x 1 3/8" may be hard to find without suppliers substituting 1 1/4" length but I found 1 3/8" under UFB137/11 from W.J.Perry Jaguar Spares on Ebay. It would very useful to be able to share that sort of info online.

The quality of the text in the parts manual certainly makes it a challenge for OCR software.
