    rekeying locks

I have a few spare locks without keys. I just removed some pins from some, door lock and petrol cap, and have now a working petrol cap lock which matches my ignition key. Just have to to the same to get the doors match up. Not that I lock my car any way as usually I drive it top down. Does anyone know how to pull a boot lock apart? I have it off but am not sure how to get the chromed cover off.

The boot key no. is stamped on the lock, but I'd like to match it to the glove box.

I’ve done the same - two keys for the whole car, as intended. I’ll have a look later at the boot lock which is in a box in my workshop and then I’ll remember how to dismantle it!

I figured it out. There is a roll pin which needs to come out. Once you have that out you can separate the lock from the body. You do however need a key. it does not have to be the right key but close enough. inserting the key will enable you to separate the chrome from the lock and expose the pins.

            Hi folks,
I am not at the stage of locking my car yet, lots of other things to do first, but I do not have a key to lock my Stag with although I do have an ignition key that works the ignition barrel but does not fit the door locks.
Where do I find the numbers on the door locks, and then how do I go about getting a key that will work.
            Many thanks in advance.

I was not able to find a no. on my door locks or ignition lock. The boot lock and glove box lock have nos. stamped on them. You need to remove the locks to see/ get access to the no. If you think the ignition lock is original to the car, you can get a heritage cert. which has some numbers referring to the locks. Cost of cert.. is around 80 - 100 quid.

There is a locksmith in the USA offering a service to match old wilmott locks. Won’t be cheap.
The U.K. firm that did this has gone I think.
Just before they went I got a stag set for £65. What a bargain.
I can help with a bit of lock matching, but it’s not that easy without a pile of spare wards to help make it ‘secure’. Easy to make a lock turn is a different matter than secure… but secure is relative.
