    Warning Light Cluster - Connector

    Hi,

I want to fit a new dash wiring harness and need to remove the old wiring from the connector to the warning light cluster. Does anyone know how to remove / refit the cables to the circular block?

    Thanks.

Extracting the sockets from the plug body should be straightforward - you need to ease back the tang that holds it in place. I got hold of a tool that has different sized tubes that you slide the appropriate size tube down the contact hole and it eases the tang and the connecting socket can be withdrawn. Was going to do this on mine, then I was unable to get appropriately sized replacement contacts, so decided to leave alone - it was all working OK and I just wanted to tidy it up a bit (If it ain't broke ....... !)..

IIRC (it was ~6 yrs ago), I only tried Autosparks and other suppliers may have the correct-sized socket contacts. It may be possible to adjust the size of the connector. I'll be interested to hear what others have done.

I did it exactly the same way.

        Thanks guys,

I managed to extract the connectors from the block by using a thin scriber rather than a tubed implement to bend the tangs. Now for the connectors themselves...

          Hi Mark,
My new loom came from Autosparks without the warning light cluster connector, as they said they could not supply one.
So, I used bullet connectors to the original plug.

            Hi Den,

Thanks for that, I'm in the same boat and have even brought a 12 way connector to link the new loom to the original round connector. Am just looking for a more elegant solution before committing myself.

I just removed the old cable from the connectors and solder the new on.
