    BW35 Auto Geabox oil level

Hi All. Been the owner of a mark 2 with auto box for a few months now and am wondering what is the correct method of checking the oil level in the gearbox. The box has a small leak which I understand is pretty common.

Grampian Stags have a recognized procedure for this.

If you are new to Stag ownership then their site is definitely worth a look.

Get her warmed through, then park up, keep the engine running at tickover, and cycle the transmission between P, D, R , 2 etc. a couple of times, then back to P - then pull the dipstick (engine still running), wipe, reinsert and read off the level.

And yes, they do mark their territory.
Header tanks - you can't beat a bit of bling.

Where is your leak coming from ? If it was like mine it was coming from the bell housing. Had the gearbox refurbished and after a couple of runs out it started leaking again although not as bad but I shall be returning to the garage and see what they will do about it. And yes Check oil level as Wilf advises.

I got my bw35 to run without leaks. Was a bit of a faff but not too bad.
new banjo bolt with dowty washers, input shaft seal, breather pipe replaced and clamped, sump gasket & selector lip seal.
          Then swapped to zf.
