    hood side seal

    Hi All
Are the side seals over the doors on the hood supposed to be in two halves or are mine split? Also is a softer seal available as my window frame on the driver’s side is being forced out
    Thanks Alan

    Alan.
If I am thinking of the seals you are writing about, they have to be in two pieces to allow the hood frame to hinge there as it is folded up and down. I don't know of any alternative /softer ones, but if the window frame is being forced out, perhaps the seals have been fitted the wrong way round.
    Mike.

        Hi Alan,

I'm not sure if this will help, and I don't know how to refer you to my post of nearly 7 years ago, but have a look at this. It is soft, has a D shaped profile and the self adhesive strip measures 12mm across.

I've still got the same rubbers in place and they have worked perfectly.

        Cheers

        Mark

I bought some new ones from Paddocks that are marginally better, but does anyone know who sells nice soft ones that won't distort the door frame?

        Cheers, Mark.
In case this helps anyone, last summer I bought some generic 'D' profile cellular foam strip from eBay and I can report that after nearly a year it has stayed in place, been wind and water proof, and allows the doors/soft top to both be closed without any distortion. And all for £6:99 !

This isn't the same seller as I used, and I can't remember what dimensions I bought, but it's the same stuff. You get the idea!

        Hope this helps someone

        Cheers, Mark.

Just checked, the seals seem to be an upside down P shape, one side is facing inwards and the one that’s pushing the window frame out is facing outwards, so maybe that’s the problem, how easy is it to turn one around?
          Thanks Alan

The seals should slope inwards. To turn them around just pull them out; and if they dont slip out, check the Alu seal channel which is normally hammered over at the ends, in which case prise it away from the rubber, then it should come out. Some silicone spray or soap will help them slide back in.

Years ago I had some that were all sponge. Sort of ideal, but wouldn’t grip in the aluminium extrusions.
What we need is seals that are rubber in the groove & sponge for the seal.
does anyone know who can supply them?
I have a Phoenix catalogue…. Difficult to match up the profiles to the rough sketches though.

I spoke with Phoenix Trim several years ago about this, and with SOCTFL, but no-one could come up with a solution to the supply of hybrid (rubber/sponge) seals for above the doors and front/rear hard top seals.

There is a foam seal with a hard rubber base, which can be used for the front seal, and the b-post seals. I prefer it to the usual profiles which are too hard. Can be purchased from COH Baines.

Could you identify the COH Baines Product Code that can be used for the hardtop front seal please?
                      Thanks,

I only used it on the soft top.
