    Aluminium fuel Tank

Hi all, has anyone got any views on aluminium fuel tanks, do they fit without fettling ? Are they worth the extra money ? Are certain ones better than others ?

Hi I fitted an E J Ward one last year. It dropped straight in. The fixing holes alignment was perfect. The job was completed in under one hour.

Maynard, do you think they are worth the extra money as opposed to the standard steel ones ?

I felt the aluminium one was worth the extra as my steel one had corroded so badly. The aluminium won’t rust inside if there is any condensation. I also heard that the repro steal ones sometimes require some extra work to make them fit. A small bonus is because of the straight sides the alloy tank holds a little more fuel.

I have a EJ Ward’s Aluminium Tank fitted by them over a year ago. Very happy with new tank and just an other thing not to worry about. My steel tank was leaking so upgraded on safety grounds.

Standard steel tanks are around £500, and ive found a British made aluminium tank for £720 so i think the extra money is worth it in the long run. Cheers fellas.

I installed a steel repro tank and yes, it is in there but took some fettling.. so that sounds like a reasonable decision. Maybe report back on how it fits??

i was the guinea pig for a company called alicool, they did a lot of Triumph tanks but not the Stag, long story short i gave them my original steel tank to use as a template to make me a one off and it was so good that they have now added it to their range.
