    Engine Mounts

    Hello team!

Most of you know I run a Ford V6 Essex in my stag, and I'm looking to replace the rubber engine insulators (bushes?). There are only two, and they appear to be different sizes... (smaller on driver's side, thicker on the other).

Does anyone have any experience of different size bushes? Are they the same size with the standard V8?
My mount points look like they are in slightly different positions either side, with one looking slightly more angled too...

I appreciate that it's difficult without pictures or actually seeing it, and I will also ask on the forums for the Reliant Scimitars (who mostly run Essex's) to see what they think too!

    Cheers,

    Chix

Ford have used a number of round engine mounts over the years with a stud on each side. Different thickness ones should not be hard to find. You may be best going to a good motor factor's that supply's shops rather than trying a shop as the shop and main dealers will order and supply be make and model.
    where are you located?

      I’m in Southampton…

So do you think I should replace like for like or make them the same?

Won't making them the same as each other tilt the engine over?

Yes, I just wondered if it was more important for them to be the same thickness, but I guess if the engine mounts are different heights, then it makes sense to have different bushes on.

If the engine is sitting well leave as it is. You my need a cortina and transit mount as different models used different thickness and density mounts
