    Waterproof Stag Car Cover

    Hi All,

My car is going back to a certain Stag specialist for some remedial bodywork and from my last experience, it will be left out in the yard, uncovered, for some time. I am therefore looking for a cheapish Stag car cover that will keep the rain off. Does it need to be breathable to stop condensation on the inside? Afterwards I may use it as a dust cover when in the garage. I searched briefly on the Forum but have not found anything.

    Thanks,

    Mike

I got one from Halfords is a generic car cover. I used it permanently for about a year, while the car was outside. And it stayed put, even in the gales we had, now the car is in the garage it’s still on the car. It keeps the dust off and it stops it getting scratched. Good value. I couldn’t see the point of getting a tailor-made stag car cover as there well overpriced.

Personally, I would find a specialist who treats the cars in their care with more respect....

I have used an expensive "California car cover" - Superweave - on a car for many years and it still used to get soaked through if the weather was continuously wet but did do a good job of keeping off general contamination, leaves etc. and no apparent damage to the paintwork.

I have also used a similar cover on a car that had been repainted a few years previously and the paint microblistered in one winter although it had been fine for a few years while it was garaged.

I think it may have more to do with the standard of paint than the actual cover.

If you are just trying to keep leaves and debris off the car then probably the cheapest you can find will do the job.

        Norton,
The specialist I went to for my body work was one of the most well known in the country and I was shocked to see the way the cars are treated. That may be just the difference between the amateur and professional approach, but it did sadden me, I have to say. Not only that but, because of being overbooked, it was left in the yard for two months from Sep 2020 before work began. It was very wet around that time and the the interior did suffer from damp damage.

Thanks for the recommendation on the cover but I was looking for a cheaper more short term solution. I couldn't find a Stag cover, but the TR6 cover is $466, which is pricier than I was looking for.

That is a really good deal from Halfords. Around £60 compared with twice that from The Brothers for a similar cover. Your picture seems to be of the large size. Is that just a generic picture or does the Stag need the large size? It would seem that the medium size goes up to 4.4m which should be fine for the Stag. I think that is my solution, so thanks for your help!

I couldn't possibly say! But good advice to anyone who is having work done on their car is to look around at storage facilities etc. I did ask that a cover was put on the car if was left outside for any time and was assured that it would, but it was not.

Wow, that certainly wins the prize for value. Not sure how waterproof it is - "Made from water-repellent and durable polyester". It claims to protect from Ice and snow but not rain. But as a cheap garage dust cover it looks like an option.

My Stag lives outside, so i needed a very good protective cover to survive all weathers. I did some research and came up with a company called [ Classic Additions] they are not cheap but they are high quality and are made of a fabric similar to wetsuits, Neoprene variant. One for the Stag the' Ultimate outdoor cover' is size Medium and costs £230 .If you value your car they are brilliant and British.

Thanks for posting this, I've just bought one for my Alfa Giulia and it's a bargain and fits well.

I also have a Classic Additions half cover for my Stag which I think cost about £65 and that is really top quality.

I have a cheap 'dust cover' nylon type and a heavy duty, 'waterproof' well known make, both leak like a sieve and not in heavy rain either.
