    choke warning light

    i am having problems with the choke warning light the bulb is ok the choke switch works when checked with a buzzer the continuity between the switch and the combination warning bulb is ok with the buzzer
    i am obviously missing something does the switch create a earth to make the circuit ? any help appreciated

    There are two thin copper plates in the switch. They make contact when the choke is pulled. The cable provides the ground. Difficult to explain but easy when you have the whole thing on a bench. Giggle the switch while on the cable

      The choke switch grounds the circuit. Have you tried grounding the wire on the choke cable to see if the light comes on?

          I found that the inner part of the choke cable can be inserted in two orientations into the sleeve. The leading edge where the choke wire attaches into the hollow shaft attached to the knob has a chamfer on one side only. This chamfer actuates the switch, so it is possible to be 180 deg out, and won't work reliably.

            i grounded the choke wire no light then checked continuity yesterday ok today none i eventually found the fault the connecter in the footwell had green pins i cleaned it up and added contact cleaner and all's well
