Boot Damp

Please can anyone suggest a possible cause for very bad damp in the boot? It only seems to be on the nearside of the boot, with heavy condensation frequently spotted on the underside of the boot lid on that same nearside, so presumably dripping down and causing the damp/wet damage?. It's ruined a new set of boot boards only fitted last summer already. Boot seals/rubber seem to be okay and no evidence of water pooling in the spare wheel well.

How about the rear Badges? Rain /water when washing can get in via the seals if they are not up to standard.

Its happened whilst the car has been parked up. It seems to be caused (I think) by heavy condensation on the underside of the boot lid

The Stag badges on the rear wings.... I think one of them was letting water in, so he put a new seal and fixed it on with Tiger seal.

I suspect the heavy condensation on the underside of the boot lid is caused by the water getting in to the boot somewhere, and not the other way round. I would check the rear lamp gaskets, both internal and external. Water pours over them from the gutters either side of the bool lid every time it rains, whereas very little by comparison will be getting on the badges.

Try leaving the boot lid open but disconnect the boot light this should stop it

If I did that the scallies would steal everything out of the boot!

When I bought my car I drove it home 150 miles. ( just over an hours driving ) It had previously been stored dry, under cover for a long time.

The day after I arrived home I found at least 2" of water in the boot.

I tried to find the leak. I initially thought is was from the hood cover assy but eventually found the RHS rear stag badge.

It seems it lets more water in than you would think, possible due to rain being pushed through due to the wind pressure whilst driving?
