    SOC Fan Blade

Recently fitted an external water pump. It only has 2mm or so clearance from the cooling Fan Blade.

The fan kept clipping the pump shaft and I needed to trim the blades, but was not confident of a permanent fix.

I decided new a new fan was a good bet and ordered one from SOC spares. ( The fan is not cheap!!!)

WOW, they are built well and solid as a rock. My original one was quite flexible and the new one is not!!!

Looks great and as long as it fits it should sort the problem out.

Just a note to anyone worrying about a fan with little clearance and needs a well built solid unit. ( no affiliation with manufacturer)

I had the same minimal clearance between pump and fan blade, but as mine is an OE fan, it is quite stiff and does not hit the pump. As revs increase, the fan blades move away from the pump and towards the radiator, increasing the clearance. Many new blades I have seen are very flimsy and have been known to carve into thicker aluminium radiators when revved. Good to hear that SOC Spares have quality fan blades.

Just finished replacing the blades. Clearance between the blades and external water pump has now increased due to them now being being straight, and due to the type of plastic should hold their shape too.
