    Jackshaft end float

Im currently rebuilding the engine and have installed the jackshaft. There is a bit of end float is this normal ?

Yes a bit of end float is normal. Unfortunately there is nothing in the ROM about what is acceptable. However, I think its more important to check that the crankshaft sprocket and the jackshaft sprocket are in line with the jackshaft pulled all the way out as the skew gears will tend to thrust in in that direction when it is running. If your jackshaft end float is excessive (like more than 15 thou) check if the keeper plate is worn and replace if necessary, would be my advice.

Is it documented in the detailed V8 Stag engine rebuild manual? I have a copy on my PC but am replying on my phone.
