Mk 2 Stag Hazard Relay and Turn Indicator Relay

    Hi All

I have been busy sorting out the electrical wiring on my 1975 Stag and am having difficulties getting the hazard and turn indicators to work, I suspect it is the relays. Could anyone answer the following questions:

    1. Rimmers Parts Catalogue shows the turn indicator relay on the bottom left of the relay board behind the parcel shelf and the hazard relay on the bottom right of the relay board. However the hazard relay is not on the relay board but is behind the dashboard and is round in shape, is this correct?

    2. Which relay is located where, as when I look at and trace the wiring behind the dashboard there is a light green with slate stripe wire which comes from the hazard switch and a light green and brown stripe wire which goes to the turn indicator stalk. When I look at a wiring diagram it implies that the wires above are for the turn indicator relay and not the hazard relay, is this right, as the Rimmers Catalogue must be wrong?

Any help would be appreciated in clearing up which relay is which and where it is positioned.

    Thanks
    Johnty

Easy way to find out - remove one or a the power feed to one and see what still works? In my car, the "normal" flasher control unit sits on top of the steering column wiring, not on the relay board.

Header tanks - you can't beat a bit of bling.

Jonty. I think Wilf's position is the norm. I have never seen one where it says in the parts book. It has two green wires going to it, and is meant to live in a small clip above and behind the dashboard, but is more likely just tucked up there somewhere, out of the way.

I am having a few problems in that area, but I can say that the cylindrical unit behind the dash is the flasher unit, I replaced it with one from LDparts I think. And you can hear it clicking with the indicators.
The hazard relay is on the board behind the parcel shelf..... I could hear it each time the hazards are on ......but the indicators do not flash. And it blew a fuse the last time I used the hazard. You could trace the wiring from the connector block below the steering column.
I intend to do this to eliminate the fault.

Thanks all for the info, you were right the turning indicator relay is situated under the dashboard and the hazard relay is in the relay board behind the parcel shelf.

Everything now working as it should do.
