Hi Guys, after many years I have finally bought my Stag, I'm not a petrol head just somebody who thinks they are a beautiful car. My car is currently having some work done and will be resprayed soon, so here's a question for you. Do I keep it the original white or do I change it for a different colour? Has anybody got a good idea for a new colour? I'd like to hear your thoughts. Thanks

I'm sure you'll get lots of opinions, but is the original colour really white, or has it been
Mine is code 19, white, but is painted navy blue with a silver hard top ( it was like that when I bought it).

Hi Milo5500 - we are kindred spirits! I fulfilled my boyhood dream last year and am like you - No petrol head just a lover the most beautiful of cars! And mine is also white. Wasn't my preferred choice - I've never really liked white cars in general, but this one came up on auction at the right time. I've had similar thoughts to you - I know mine is white from new. Probably had some panel resprays here or there. and in need of a couple of bubbles being treated presently but in general she looks very good - and although Black, Racing Green, Navy would have been my preferred choices, the number of people who randomly stop me and tell me they love the colour, make me less interested in going the whole hog to change the colour. Gentlemen Prefer Blondes....
I might decide to get a full respray - rather than make do and mend, though I don't have a clue what the cost of a bare metal respray or an overspray would be. I will see the summer through and then get something done in the winter - interested in what you decided, if you have? And also what your respray cost. I should start looking around for possible bodyshops to understand a bit more - bare metal sounds attractive in addition to tidying up one or two points in bodywork alignment for the end result, but I can imagine the cost and time is significant. perhaps over the top given that the metalwork on the car is in good condition. I'm not looking to cut corners though. just want to choose wisely.
If anyone else has ball park estimates of what I would be looking at, it would be great - as well as any recommendations (I'm in NW London) of whom to go to.

To do a colour change properly is a mammoth undertaking. It has to be done both inside and outside the car which involves stripping out
all the interior, glass and engine bay. Unless you can do this work yourself you are looking at +£6000. I would suggest that unless you do it properly you will devalue the car.John
