Today I found out what happens if you have lots of toe out and reverse the car.... I knew it may be off after some work I had just done but this was not expected
I used the string alignment method to get it ballpark and all is well now.

It can be a challenge sometimes but I’ve always done my own now with a GunsonTrackrite, great piece of kit but not sure you can get them out there..

Saw them, not really available here, so shipping is pricy.

I use 2 pairs of greased boards for turning tables, 4 axle stands to hold the string ( 6mm nearer the rear wheels to account for the track difference) and my trusty mitutoyo vernier callipers to measure. Takes more time but I get there in the end!

Yup, Not sure how much this matters but the Stag has a rear track slightly wider than the front so I set the distance D 6mm tighter. I use the outside of the alloy wheel to measure to.

Now having said that I just checked that statement and the 77 book I keep by the computer says 9mm difference for alloys! but it refers to the different wheels. Its probably immaterial.

Been there, done that. Here's how to make a full day out of that 1 hr job. Setting up the string, tripping over the string with my size 13 feet, inventing new cuss words, resetting everything, tripping over the string, cussing, resetting, tripping.....
