I presume soemone wil lhave seen this before?
Elsewhere you will see my rennovation thread, was down at the restorers this morning to check on build process after painting, took down my newly delivered BMIHT factory record, checked chassis and body number, tick, checked engine number it doesnt match the certificate or the V5, given the last two owners SoC memebers from the same village have owned the car for 20 years i presume the engine swap was pre there ownership. Nothing in the paperwork.
Am amending the V5 to change the colour as its now gone back to factory Magenta from BMW silver (painted 20 years ago).
Has anyone had this experience before? I presume if the garage provides me with a photo of the engine number and details that on a letter with there details that should suffice for DVLA?
Very handy that this momnth magazine has an article on engine numbers, from that I can estimate the engine now in the car was made in April/May 1974, where as my build date 10/09/74, it is a LF HE engine but it is a HEBW and mine is a manual car.
I guess it isn't unknown for a auto engine to be used in a manual?
Have to say a little bit dissapointed as i thought i was buying a matching numbers car, I have history for the last 25 years or so, but before that its history is opaque, with a goodly number of owners before me in its 48 years.
It wont stop me enjoying her though.
