    Drain Holes Where Are They?

I'm in the process of having a restoration carried out on my Stag. Major metal work nearly finished.
Where are the drain holes supposed to be on the chassis and doors?
Two for the hood drain plugs at the base of the rear seat, anymore anywhere else?
New sills seem to have blanking spaces for where holes were before work carried out.

The drain holes for the doors are,two small holes in the corners of the door in the door frame,i drill extra along the bottom of the frame.
the drain holes in the chassis are at the front on the under neath
there are two drain holes under rear arches for the soft top with tubes sticking through, also check the channel where the soft top lid closes
the sills have two small slits on the underneath, where the outer sill fits up against the inner sill

Hi there, do you have diagrams as to where they are or could you draw me something?

Imho stags did not really have enough sensible drainage holes.
visit an original car to see original holes… it’ll be a while before I can photograph original ones & post sorry, but not a big problem for improvement:-
my take is drill a few more in sensible locations, before paint is applied.
boot floor lowest corners, door frame bottoms, sills , front wing bottoms , front valance corners, out riggers & chassis legs. Understand you asked for original locations…. But there were not sufficient originally.
make sure the holes are not left raw.
use the holes for wax injection eg Bilt Hamber s50.

some restoration details here have shown details of extra water channels or closures added to ‘a post’ structure to wing bottom on front inner wings…. Can only help. ( recall ‘edd’ sharing that on his first very thorough restoration with improvements)

You only need to look at rusty stags to see where better drainage and or protection should be applied. Certainly a good starting point.

I would also expect an experienced Stag restorer would already know where the drainage holes are and would have made sure they are still there or made. As Julian said best before painting.

Here are three photos of a Stag shell showing some of the drains: I can email larger versions but somehow can't get them to appear on here!

This is the underside showing (circled) the six drain slots

This is the front 'A' post without the front wing showing (arrowed) the drainage from the top of the scutle, down onto the front of the sill, and out between the front wing and the sill:

And here is the sneaky little drain for the inside front of the rear wing, water drips into the sill, then out through the hole shown in photo 1:

                  Thanks for these.

Is that really the drain for the hood? No wonder mine was totally rotten! Are there any mods out there?

Here is a shot of my car. I can see four holes along the sill. There are two jacking points but are the others modified drainage holes for new sills?

If the repair has been made to the rear sill and no hood drainage hole made as per the repaired panel can a hole be made where I have put an arrow to use the drain pipe to exit here as like other cars?

Where are the drain holes on the front of the car? I have read they are at the front of the engine bay and under the valance.

                      Hi Dave,
When you say the drain holes are at the front on the underneath do you mean at the bottom of the valance?
