    Oil pressure switch wire.

A couple of years ago my oil pressure switch sprang a leak so I removed the T piece and since then have been running on the oil pressure gauge only.
I have now had to change the complete oil cooler take off plate due to a leak, and have refitted the T piece and a new switch.

Problem is, I cant find the end of the wire that plugs into the switch!

This is on my MK1, I have looked at my Mk2 and can clearly see where the wire comes from on that one. Unfortunately the under bonnet loom is completely different between mk1 and 2

Can anyone tell me where the oil pressure swich wire comes from on a MK1, either through the bulkhead or where it branches off the main loom?

I have either tucked the wire out of the way somewhere, or it has broken off. Can't get my hand down there to poke about due to the oil cooler pipes.

If I feel keen enough I could take a new wire back through the bulkhead, but I am sure the damn thing is lurking in there somewhere!

    Cheers

    Neil,

Whilst my engine was out I renewed much of the oil pressure switch wire and temperature sensor wire under the bonnet as they were both age hardened with broken insulation. The oil pressure wire (white/brown) is shown in this photo circled in red. The temp sensor wire is on the other side (green/purple).C714ABD4-EAA4-4E8E-98DD-946AB81C3E93.jpeg .

Yes, that's pretty much where the wire is on my Mk2. I'm wondering if I folded it back towards the centre of the car.

If I did there is no chance of finding it again as it is buried under the coil packs and the water return plumbing from the rear of the heads, and I sure as hell am not going to take that lot off to find it!

Whilst on the subject of that loom, can someone please tell me what type of clips hold the loom to the firewall and how they are attached to the body (screws. rivets) ? I want to get it all tidied up before fitting the engine.

Also, the right hand engine mount: I know this is difficult to access (because of the steering arm/rack), and I wondered if I should fit the mount to the body first?

Re the engine mounts, if you have access to a welder then weld a strip of metal between the two bolt heads for the drivers side, making sure the threads can easily pass through the body and the engine mount.
It makes getting the bolts in a fraction more difficult, but so much easier for fitting the nuts and tightening them as you don't have to wressle with two spanners in a confined space.
