    K-Seal

Hi all, was wondering, if you have used K-Seal once in 2 years and then drain and flush the block and replace anti-freeze, can you use K-Seal again if required?

    Many thanks

Hi, Sorry but I personally would not use 'K ' Seal. I would rather go to the root of the problem.
I have heard mixed reports about K seal.

someone here in USa explained the new variants of these things. Before they blocked holes but modern ones only work when exposed to air and can block a leak to atmosphere. I have a slight water pump leak. I wonder what these things would do there.

I used K seal about 12 years ago, slight weep from around water pump. I have had zero issues to date. Tim

Do you use the whole bottle or a smaller amount?

Folklore has I that rover went through a phase of adding similar to all engines when they left the plant. Perhaps not very confident about QC.

If it was me, I would wait to see if there are any leaks before adding more or first, try to find the source of the leak.

I have used K seal before and has worked a treat same as some friends.

                Jeff.

Read the instructions, I believe its the whole bottle, its only small.

As Jeff says, I've used it successfully for minor leaks but make sure you follow the instructions.

Thanks to all for your replies. The reason I ask is because I have/had a slight HG leak. Does K-Seal work continually? Meaning, as the antifreeze is due to be changed soon, therefore I will be removing it when I empty the old antifreeze and flush the block. Hypothetical, if the contents of the block/rad was never changed and a leak occurred anywhere, would the K-Seal already in the system find the leak or does it lose its repair properties after time?

                      Thanks again

                        Here you go markmark2 https://www.kseal.com/

Personally I would only (and have) used it as a get me home solution. HG leak would need attention and I would not rely on k-seal for anything other than a quick fix to get me home.

That said it did work beautifully on my Range Rover 3.9 RV8 that had slipped a cylinder liner. Lasted almost 40k miles of daily grind until the cooling system suddenly started to pressurise again and then popped to stupid plastic cap of the rad while I was on the m40 and cooked the engine big time.

Experience has taught me to avoid this stuff https://www.halfords.com/tools/garag...ir-276185.html like the plague.

Didn't fix, the guarantee would have cost me £100's in garage fees to make possible, and it plugged up my radiator and heater matrix with turkish delight. Yeah, thanks for that.

A car "Bargain basement" sales site near me has a cupboard full of those. They find it works well on suspect cooling systems!

Have you torqued the head in the last 2 years, or at any time ? if not drop the water and UNDO mark the nuts and bolts and undo by 1 flat (to reduce the stiction (sticking friction) and retorque in the correct sequence in one smooth movement, you'll likely find the nuts and bolts fasten up maybe a further flat past where you did it up to previously...the head gasket has settled. Then when you fill up drop the K seal in you might get away with it. The K seal is a mix of fine copper and ceramic particles from memory, it works nicely at sealing hairline cracks and the like but not bigger holes like rads etc. The head gasket should be checked every couple of years, they continue settling for a few torque cycles.

I have used copious quantities of various radiator sealants over the years on different cars, and they generally work ok on any small leak that doesn't involve moving parts like water pumps.

When I have had to change coolant on a system that has had sealant added, I generally don't bother putting more in unless it starts leaking again.
