    Best hydraulic joint/thread sealer

Hi, whats best sealer to use on steering rack pipe unions and brake pipe unions? Hylomar red or should it be a anaerobic thread sealant?

Shouldn't need anything at all, particularly on brake pipe unions. Same applies to steering rack pipes, particularly if you have the copper replacement ones.

I have sucsessfully used thread sealant in the past on steel pipes that refused to seal.

The only place I used a sealant was the fitting into the steering rack that secures the cylinder into place, I used a PTFE pipe sealant.

otherwise like Neil, dry, especially brake lines.

Brake lines nothing, if it won't seal use a new pipe or re flare the end. Steering rack there are special sealants for hydraulic use. Go to a hydraulic pipe firm for one is the easy option or get them to make a new pipe up
