water pump stamped letters

Hi guys been looking for the post about the stamped markings on water pump shafts that indicated that they are good hard ones , ones from Zephyrs are ok? I think, can you point me in the right direction, think there were others that were marked with a different letter that are proven to be fine as well?

I have one marked UGW I think. Tony Hart said this was a good brand.

Use a file to check hardness as per someone else’s picture here…. Above the gear.
there are other failure modes not related to the hardness.

I just got hold of a water pump with the markings UTY. Would anyone know if this is any good? Here's my theory, the unmarked un-labeled shafts are the ones which tend to fail.

I've a couple of the Zephyrs marked ones seem to remember reading they were one of the good ones

Zephyr is stamped on the shaft.

Currently fitted is a Zephyr, my spare is marked LV.

This is the pump I took out of my engine when I converted to the Stagdad external pump last year. It has done at least 60,000 miles and was rebuilt by me in 2011, 35,000 miles ago.

Nope stamped with Zephyr in full

How many shaft markings are there?
Have seen about 4 or 5.
zephyr seems to be most common & also nearly always still good.

I bought a water pump off EBAY. The package it came in said RHP. I recall the bearing it came with was RHP. however the shaft was unmarked. I did find one comment this is a not good brand. I bought it for the impeller. I've owned my Stag for almost 23 years and don't recall anyone saying that a stamped named shaft is no good. One of the named branded shafts I have was endorsed by Tony Hart on a FB forum to be good. I was hoping he may comment on the other branded shaft I recently acquired
