    ZF Auto Electrics

Car is fitted with the ZF4 HP22 4-speed auto gearbox. Before fitting the engine, I have checked the two circuits at the gearbox plug and neither seems to work as expected.

    1. The reversing light circuit is open circuit regardless of gear lever position (green wires)
    2. The starter interlock is short circuit in all gear lever positions (white/red wires)

I take it this is not normal? Any simple fixes or would the box have to come out?

(I have no previous knowledge whether it was working before engine was taken out).

Chris Is the switch like this? Mounted forward of the selection shaft on the n/s of box. This is the standard switch and it works by a cam on the selector shaft inside the box. No adjustment possible if the switch is screwed in both contact pairs should work correctly. Colours of wiring may vary

I havent looked under the car yet, but I will do so now I know where to look. So thanks for that. The wire colours are correct for Stag wiring so perhaps someone spliced a Stag loom onto the ZF loom, but I am guessing.
