gasket twixt pipe and standard manifold ?

Now I have a blow under the drivers side (UK) clearly I can see that the gasket has gone just under the standard iron manifold where the equally standard pipe fastens. now ive been under the car and 2 of the 3 brass nuts are visible..is there a cunning..cunning as a fox called Slyboots Cunningham method of accessing the other one ..the one nearest the bulkhead?
All help appreciated before the swearing starts
    regards

Best first to have a good swear to start, and let of some steam.

I imagine the problem nut is the one closest to the oil filter? There is not much clearance between that and the oil filter. I have a long spin-on filter and special long nuts, and I had to cut down the nut in order to get it on. Not sure if thats any help though?

Bit of swearing works, and rap your knuckles hard with a spanner a few times just to tone them up.. Mine were difficult but I did get them, a selection of sockets helps, I cant remember but sometimes a 1/4" drive socket gets in there where others dont.. certainly 3/8" rather than 1/2"

Go down to the local supermarket and buy yourself a large bag of swear words !!!.

I always use 3/8 drive sockets with 'wobble head' extension nearest the nut and other extensions added.

You'll need an even bigger bag of swear words to put it back on along with the washer.

If I remember getting the nuts off/on was the easy bit, putting it on the studs was difficult because of how much the exhaust has to move to clear the studs as they are angled.

I used triple length brass nuts with a couple of threads drilled out. I think they were available from a mini specialist.

I went to the Supermarket for a bag of swearwords, sadly they only had them loose and the checkout assistant was a bit offended, probably good idea to buy in bulk via internet and keep them in the garage for the user only. They are really useful consumables enabling a swift return to focus.

I seem to remember that a very long socket extension just about allows you to get enough socket on the nut to get it off. You end up with the socket driver well below the car and so clear of exhaust pipes, engine etc.
