    Diff nose extension.

Hello Chaps, trying to remove diff nose extension so I can have brackets welded on to it, for peace of mind. I have managed to remove three of the four nuts but having trouble with the last one. It’s the top one on passenger side, I can’t get a socket on it only a ring spanner which has now started to slip on it, the last thing I want to do is round the nut off. Any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers Steve. Ps the only heat source I have is a blow torch which I don’t think is heating it up enough. Many thanks.

15 years after buy my Stag, I bought an air powered impact wrench. It was reduced from 100$ down to $25. I find this thing such a help and look backing paying even the $100 would have been well worth it. I now have a battery operated one. There's a lot of metal in the area and the torch may eventually work.

Hi chaps, thanks for replies, I do have a air inpact gun I wouldn’t be able to get it on the nut only on the bolt head, and the diff is off the car. Many thanks Steve.

          Hi Steve

It can be an issue especially on the forward edge of the diff nose because off access, however with 3 bolts removed and the car supported under the trailing edge of the floor or sill section, the whole subframe will drop down quite a bit and hopefully give access to fit a mole wrench or a stilson pipe wrench onto the nut. It may then be possible to use a decent 6 sided socket on the bolt head. failing that can you get a nut splitter onto the nut?

It is always the last fixing that causes the most bother
