    Setting up Carburettors

    Hello!
Is there a basic guide to setting up the carbs to run after a rebuild on here? The garage rebuilt the carbs and have set them to run rich so I can drive the car back and they can set them up properly. The bit I am after is the throttle cable and adjustable linkages. I tried reading the manual and it got abit wordy so i was looking for a simpler version.
    kind regards

Have you looked in the Technical Section?

I was looking for a technical section but cannot find any thing listed as " technical." Is it called something else?

Then look under 'fuel and exhausts' - several threads there to help you.

Richard's YouTube videos ( Church House Classics) are very useful for explaining what to do and why you're doing it ...

Thankyou all. It looks like I have been looking in the technical section all along but could not find the bit I needed. I shall have a look on the video and see if it makes the information I have gathered make sense.
                thankyou all.

There are many threads on setting the carbs Basically you remove the link between the 2 carbs and set the mixture and idle of each carb independently, once set you refit and adjust the length of the link rod so that the adjustment is not disturbed.

You may also be asking about the throttle cable? The book shows a gap (Dimension "A") that needs to be set, the slot allows the choke to operate without affecting the throttle cable. to adjust it you slide the clamp up the throttle wire a little and clamp it so that a gap is maintained, so that the cable moves just a little before the tang engages the end of the slot and starts moving the carbs or as they say a "lost motion"

I really dont know what they mean in item 10, inserting a 5mm bar.. mine does not have a hole in the mounting plate..
