Well I have to say I’m very surprised that such a topic has course quite such a discussion.
It seems that many of us are pretty much unaware that there were three types of prop shaft, I know the one I took off my car was slightly thicker in diameter and the one I’m putting back on, but apart from that it’s got grease nipples and it’s brand-new.
so it’s quite obvious from the comments above that the expansion and contraction section goes at the gearbox end.
Thank you all for your comments very very helpful especially one about the UJ joint (Mike) being invited at each end. I will check this before I put the prop shaft in the car
