Any poor pensioners here?

The petition may very well result in no action by the government. We are used to being ignored but to do nothing is taken as being agreement. I do not agree with the current level of state pension and I want to protest the situation and request change as I feel that we have been lied to and cheated..
Money seems to be available for any "vote winning" initiatives. I just try to make this one that takes their fancy.
If you care to, please forward the petition address to any other sites you participate in.
Thank you for your time.

I was exceptionally annoyed with the decision to amend the triple lock after so many promises that it was sacrosanct. Especially after the Government Actuary stated in January that it was, after all, affordable. I rather suspect that Septembers' inflation figure will be similarly ignored. My MP is already aware that if that happens, my vote for him will evaporate.Last edited by wilf; 7 April 2022, 16:40.Header tanks - you can't beat a bit of bling.

I have quite strong feelings about the reneging of the promise to maintain the "triple lock" as I put to my MP via email. My question regarding the the ability of the government to supply billions of pounds to Ukraine in munitions etc.. yet hold down pension payments gave me a reply that seemed to have been "cut and paste" from government statements and appeared to imply that I should care more for them than for UK citizens. Maybe I misunderstood. Anyway, I would urge people to sign the petition because, apart from the threat of an election, I believe that, generally, politicians, if for example they are accountants or bankers, take more notice of figures than opinions. Happy days...

I've also signed. Borris and his Downing Street partying pals have sold us down the Thames. What happened to all the Brexit money that we were going to benefit from not having to prop up the EU? Remember the £350m extra per week that was going to go towards the NHS? Not much evidence of that coming to fruition. A lot of lies to get our votes, before settling down to the same old, same old. It remains to be seen if the triple lock gets reinstated after its one-year lapse; pensioners facing a drop in living standards make small headlines in our media, therefore not much political incentive to make it happen.

I have recently received notification of a 3.1 percent increase in State Pension. Yes, the pension could be higher, but I would like to see things like Winter Fuel Payment means tested and certainly stopped for expats living in Spain, etc.Dave

Not sure how much has no been spent, but it is many 10s of millions, and is just one such example.

I agree that Covid was costly to the taxpayers, but there seems to be little appetite by Borris to investigate the procurement cock-ups and blatant fraud that rode on the back of the pandemic. I was unaware that expats living in the sun could receive WFP. It seems an easier option to reduce social payments, than it is to, say, take a bit more off the highest tax payers, or nibble down the House of Commons meal subsidy.
