    replacing voltage stabilizer

    Hello all,
What are the "Dos and Don'ts" if I want to tilt the driver's side dashboard in order to replace the voltage stabilizer? Both the fuel gauge and the temp gauge are reading too low.
    Best wishes,
    Dieter - from Germany.

Undo 4 (or is it 6?) screws and tilt Dieter. The pipe on the vent nearest the doors might need a tug to extend but its as straightforward as it looks. Oh and remove the rheostat knob for the dial illumination

Lower the steering column all the way down and place a towel over the cowl. My my case, the varnish of the dash came off right at the bottom when the dash rested on the column. I did an experiment on my work bench and tried two different stabilizers. There is a service bulletin on how to test them. They were both produced different gauge readings. Get a a solid sate modern one.

You will also need to pull off the knob for the dimmer because the mechanical bit is attached to the car.
