    Squealing belts

Due to fitting an external water pump I have had to use belts of different classification to the supplied ones. I needed to change due to the original manufacturer not selling the correct length for me to get the power steering pump and LHS alternator in the positions I needed them in.

They are all brand new and I have only driven the car as of today, first outing since carrying out mods since last year. An hour or so driving and they see to have quietened.

Can I expect problems in the future? The belts are the same 10mm width and V section but different specs.

    Any help appreciated.

When I bought the Red Stag I drove home in it, as soon as I reached home the Alt belt broke. I replaced it but it kept squealing.
I stopped near a road works gang and put some wet tarmac on the bottom of the belt, just a little.
Never squealed again, still there since 2009.
Just make sure not too much tension when tightned. Do the 90 degrees test.
