Rear subframe arm bush (150382 the big ones!) ..... poly or normal rubber?

    Hi all, Advice time again!
As the title suggests i'm looking for thoughts on the rear subframe arm bushes. The reason I ask is the car is having poly bush replacements all round.Years ago however at a local SOC meeting, a fella with some knowledge had gradually replaced his but didn't change the large bushes as apparently (from memory) it made the car to stiff or similar? The poly type are loosely twice the price of standard rubber, don't mind paying if it's beneficial to the ride but don't want to buy if they may have a potentially detrimental effect.
Any thoughts and explanations either way would be appreciated.
    Cheers

I went blue poly (slightly softer) and don't have any issues with the ride quality. The reason I went poly is because of the poor quality of the rubber. It's not a real tough job to replace them, but I figured why replace them every 3 years or so.

Many years ago I had a PI saloon and those bushes needed changing as the outer case had rotted away.

I noticed that Chris Witor, the Triumph saloon specialist, advertised original rubber or reproduction. The repro was half the price of the original.

I rang him and asked "what is the life expectancy of the repro's"

He replied "sometimes as little as weeks, but people ask for them because they are cheap"

Needless to say I bought original Metalastic. Last time I looked (5 or 6 years ago) he still suplied the Metalastic but they were about £140 each

I bought the blue poly, they have been fine so far.

Fitted the polyurethane ones a month or so ago. No noticeable change in firmness if ride or increased round noise.

My Stag is fully polybushed, the ride is stiffer and I wouldn't want it any harder but it has been a major improvement.
Springs are stock with gas shocks, rears are adjustable, drives like on rails.
