Out of the box and fit ( Not straight forward )

I fitted an after market carb, Its new. So my Stroms could be professionally rebuilt.
Its ' supposed' to be 1 hour out of the box fit. Took me 4 hours with the problems I faced with sticking throttle linkage, engine revving to 3000RPM, having to file down the snail-like link that connects to the throttle cable it kept rubbing on the manifold and sticking, it was supplied with a microscopic holed solderless nipple. It was like putting a rope through the eye of a needle!

Its still sticking , needs a throttle spring return!!!!! Have to source one. Rang the company but to no avail. Looked on line for a solution and found one.
    Read it.

https://www.tccv.net/hints/StagWeberConversion.pdf check out paragraph 9 and 10 (after the picture of engine bay

    ##### ## P.S I would have thought being professional this problems would have been ironed out?? Or at least add a return spring for goodness sake...I dug out some previous posts here even in other clubs, seems to be a big problem throttle sticking! ######

It’s called customer development Sukh, often used to resolve initial bad design.
Supplier relies on customer to feedback design “issues” which he may incorporate in a Mk2 version.
Fortunately suppliers such as Classic Driving Developments, improve safety critical parts by good engineering design before releasing to market.

Many manufacturers use this method of product development. The Stag is an example of this. Triumph made a number of modifications to a less than ideal cooling system in an attempt to resolve the perceived overheating issues.

With regard to the op's carb issue, is he using a new item or an older version he has had for some time? He has condemned a number of good products in the past without any proof of a problem.

In my opinion, the op's views are not accurate & totally unfair.
        Took me under 30 mins.

I do not understand what he means by the snail like link rubbing on the manifold,
if he means the cable throttle plate on the end of the R/H spindle, on mine it's at least 1/4 inch clear of the manifold.
I assume the fibre block was fitted between manifold & carb ?.

Fitting an extra return spring if you want one is not rocket science, I did from the outset because I thought the pedal was too light.

The solderless nipple is pretty standard practice, even the Stroms used a similar arrangement.
Perhaps some stronger glasses are required.

I have since gone over to "Retroject", same footprint as 38DGMS, and no sticking throttle or clearance issues,
kept the extra return spring to give heavier pedal feel.

As your name implies...you are being fussy over nothing. Its a new product, and I am not the only one who has faced this issue. I suggest you go on line type in the correct wording and you will find a plethora of people with the same problem. Its the U shaped linkage thats rubbing on the manifold. I had to file it down.

I dont go on line and complain about products as a living.
If you have an Auto then the link to the kickdown helps to keep the U shaped thingy firm and taut, NOT with the manual.
Also you cannot recount everything in writing, come down and have a look, or I challenge anyone to come and dispute what I said, they will find it does stick.......
Why should I need to buy a cheap as chips spring? When all should be working out of the box???? In the end and many hours later I THINK I have solved it, needs to be road tested.
Please stop condemning me like an illiterate vagabond.
I have been on this forum since 2009, bought lots of stuff never ever complained, but the state of affairs in buying has taken a downhill spiral of late.

I thiink I have to close this thread as there are many who might be pious and self righteous for thier own good.

The dictionary defines, the thesaurus gives alternative words. A forum is for discussion and debate, as we do.
