    modified stags

i have allways felt a modified stags never seem ( or very rare ) to get the coverage they deserve wether at shows, in local area meetings orsoc magazine.

I know there are quite a number of us out there, So you soc hierachy, hows about more articles on the modfied stag. Monarch triumph would be a good bench mark and starting point, but at the other counter end ( from a business ) the enthusiast who modifies his stag to put his / her mark on it.

    Well........

I'm working on the basis that when something quits on my Stag i will replace it with an upgraded mod .Can'tbearthe thought of spending big money on poor quality stag parts which could go again in a few thousand milesAt the moment the rear end is sounding and feeling a bit shot so I'm in the process of gathering all the bits for a E30 transplant and brake upgrade. But i do want to keep the look as standard as possible.

I agree with stagdad, when someting goes wrong replace it with a better updated / up rated part.

but for me I like the stag just the way it is faults and all, if you want a 250 bhp great handling car then buy a TVR. having said that I do think they have there place and an article in the club mag would not go a miss.

The answer is simple, the magazine is not simply a publication that you subscribe to when you join it is the voice of the members. The general lack of technical articles in the magazine reflects the lack of articles submitted by the members to the editor. This forum and the other oneproves that there is an active subset of members working on their own cars, solving their own problems and creating interesting modifications. But this group and Iinclude myself, do not submit any magazine content but arehappy to leave the few technical articles to 'Kingpin'.

I personally don't like the 'social calendar' format of the magazine but never complain because I, like most others that are active on this list, do not submit articles for inclusion in the magazine.

So if we want to see more technical pages - start writing! there are some very interesting projects out there

How's your EFI project progressing Alan?

All my machining work is now complete on my EFI manifold, 'just' needs welding together now! Unfortunately (or fortunately...) we have just secured several large orders at work meaning all our TIG welders at work will be busy for a while()

Michael, alas I am my own workshop and welder and both have stopped temporarily to decorate our hall (direct order from SWMBO!) should finish that this weekend and can then get back to a very cold workshop in the odd evening.

Still pondering over the water pickup from the heads, currently thinking I will put the thermostat housing at the rear as it leaves more space for the throttle body (Jag) over the water pump. I willblock off the small waterways alongside ports 1 & 2 as they are only there to heat the inlet manifold which will be gone anyway. On the brighter side the megasquirt kit I built works perfectly on the bench so I can on andfit that now.

The only problem with having the thermostat at the rear of the engine will be running a large diameter pipe (32mm ID I assume) along the side of the engine to the radiator. If you have a suitable route, why not! After all, most mid & rear engined cars have long runs to a front mounted radiator!

Only problem is that TVR dont build a car thatLOOKS exactly like the stag.People buy

stags for their great looks and NOT their build quality.

Quite right. Just imagine how it would look today if things had gone the way they should have.......I'm sure it would look far more stylish than an SL.

i was on in the market for a 450seac but came to the conclusion as looks go and not having to pay road tax you can not beat the stag.

So i have simmering in the back of my mind going for <300bhp. Why i can hearpeople say. Well i thought i had it sorted at 220bhp but you get used to it! and the other reason is because i can.

Thanks, it was a nice surprise winning some silver this year. It was never my intention to enter to win, more to show otherowners the mods I have carried out to my car. I wish some other owners would enter their Stags for they are out there, somefar more modified than mine.
