    Steering Lock

Do any of you use a steering lock when you park up your Stag? Any recommendations that fit well?

Do people even want to steal Stags these days?! I'm not sure the average thief could get one started!

I use a Disclock, particularly when parking with the roof down. Helps my peace of mind.

How about the old vintage Krooklok which fits on the handbrake and gear lever!

Just give them something else to think about, , if the pro wants it they will load it on a flat bed anyway.

I have one of these. It came with the Stag when I bought it in 2009, has a red light on it. I have never changed the battery still!
          Really good and looks imposing.

          Absolutely right about flatbed robbery!!

The factory steering physical lock on the key / column would give any casual thief a few seconds grief.

Most cars from the 70s through to 90s can be started and driven off without even looking at the ignition key should the steering lock not be working. and then even if it is there are ways to make it not work within seconds.

In my most humble opinion, alarms=useless (unless in your earshot)
Visible deterrents are much better, I watched a friend wrestle with his discloc (steering wheel cover) for over 30 mins after he gave up looking for the key.

Invisible #thatcham type immobilisers - yeah sorry but childs play to a thief on something like a stag.

So like I say visible deterrents and if you want it back a tracker - no I am not taking about cheapo 3g / 4g trackers - stick it in a container and they are disabled

There used to be an electronic ignition which would let the thief drive it for a few yards and then start mis-firing before stopping altogether.

The original krooklocks could be disassembled with a cold chisel.

I use something similar to this

Oh dear, it all sounds like doom and gloom. Insure it. Lock it. Don't park in dubious places. Stoplock takes longer to remove than a Disclock, according to latest reports. So I bought one. It's heavy and cumbersome but it might make a difference. At the end of the day, it's only a car, not your favourite child. Just me? Regard, John.

As well as a disc lock I have a bright and shiny (we all love bright and shiny) foot brake lock (left over from my last kit car) this fits perfectly round the hand brake in the raised position. Just a visual deterrent but with both we can only take sensible precautions.

I remember I used to do that on my old Series IIA Landie. No other way to secure it lol.

i use a bracket that surrounds the handbrake lever and allows you to lock it in place.

I find an electric cut-out on a fuel pump works well. Particularly as it is in the boot. tends to lead to the car running until the float bowls run dry and then you are stranded somewhere public. Theives tend to leg it at this point :-)
