    Cracked engine plate

Hello all, I've removed my gearbox to fit an uprated clutch and noticed that the engine plate (plate between g/b and engine has a crack in it, from one of the top mounting holes about 6 inches long.

What is the concensus? should I remove the plate and get it welded up, or since it will get clamped between g/b and engine, should it be ok to just 'pinch it up'?

Will try to get some pics up later. I have no idea how long it has been like this, or whether my juddery clutch could have caused it.

Really want to get the car back on the road as it seems the nice weather is coming in

Probably lost its anti-beaming brackets (sump to backplate to gearbox)

oops thats auto.... manual equivalent fits here (see next post) and auto has more to it.

Auto breaks backplate if anti-beaming bracketsare missing
