    Rear Suspension Springs

I have a ride height about an inch too high, so I will be swapping out the springs. Since I have found in the past that relying on suppliers info on height is unreliable I decided to make some measurements.

I thought it would be useful to compare the spare set I have with the ones I will remove to see if they are likely to get the correct ride height (14.5") and solve the problem, and to this end I have measured the following (in mm):

    Spring height 313
    Width 95
    Wire thickness 13.2
    No of turns 10.5

When I have removed the ones on the car I will measure those for comparison and post the info.

Does anyone else have any spring dimensional info to offer that suggests what works for them and what height it gives?

The height alone doesn't tell the whole story. Fitted ride height of the car depends on all 4 dimensions; increase in spring height and wire thickness will increase ride height, increase in the no of turns and width will decrease ride height, although I would expect that only wire thickness and height actually vary between different springs.

There are also progressive rate springs which could complicate things but not sure if they are used at the rear suspension.

The ride height is determined by the unstressed length of the spring and its elasticity. The same elasticity can be achieved with multiple combinations of material specification and treatment in production, wire gauge, no of coils - this is why it's so difficult to be confident we've got the right item as most of us can only compare some of these aspects, so we don't really know what we're buying.

The new springs put on my project car looked ok to me, and I believed what the vendor when they said they were the right parts, but the car sits way too high, they will have to be changed.

Spring - rate, free length together with corner weight determines installed length / ride height.
Does anyone have stag corner - weights?

From what I have read here, SOC spares have springs that give the correct ride height.
