    Should I send this back?

I've got my floorpan from JP today and to be honest I'm not impressed with the state of it! Just look at the top edge and the apparent warpage, it's clearly not transit damage.

So I'm well within my rights to send it back for a replacement, but is it worth it? Will it be possible to make it good during fitting? What would you do?

Its not very good is it, but it would easily straighten out in a vice and should not affect the ability to fit it. Just mention to Paddocks next time you speak to them (or email them) thatyou were not impressed.

      Hi Kevin,

If your in no rush send it back, why should you have to put up with it, why should you have to put right something that should fit without having adjust to fit, you know your not happy with it.

I have the same problem with a rear 3/4 repair panel, doesn't look as bad as yours though, nevertheless, still annoying.

Top edge is 'buckled' or kinked.

            Definitely not damaged in transit.

I think it would be worth contacting them to explain the problem and see if they have any straighter ones in stock, but the pressing itself looks from the pics to be ok so might be worth straightening out if they don't have anything better. (Not that I know anything at all about car bodywork by the way!!!)

Nice striaght lump of 4x2 or 2x2 and that will beat out no problem.

the sign of a good panel beater to me is one who uses bits of wood and has a sledge hammer in their tool kit with a cut down handle (sounds drastic but you will be surprised how much sledges get used in panel shops)

I wouldn't worry about the floorpan, a minute with a hammer and dolly or a vice will straighten the edge. The warpage will not affect the fitting.

These part floor repair panels have never been particularly good. The only decent qualityfloor panels I have seen are the full length ones that are more expensive and, I think, currently unavailable. They will all require some degree offettling to fit though.

I agree with Chris that it would be worth letting Paddocks know you are not happy with the panel.

I wouldn't be happy at all with the rear 3/4 panel. It looks like the joddled edge has set some distortion into the panel. Is that how they are supplied now? Mine were supplied as untrimmed panels and you had to trim off all the 'flashing' yourself. It did keep the panel rigid though with no 'loose' edge.

This is a really difficult area to get the bodyworkcontours rightso if it was me I would be sending that one back.

Easily straightened, but why do Stag owners have to put up with crap parts and service when its supposedly the largest owners club in existence?.

Just my view, its very disappointing really that this sort of rubbish is peddled out ,bet Aston Martin and other quality marque owners dont have to put up with this, and before anyone says but their parts are more expensive, price should have nothing to do with it.

Most Stag owners would pay top prices for top quality.

                    SEND IT BACK KEVIN

                    Regards Mark

Thanks for the replies so far.

I'm not one to complain for the sake of it, but I feel "how hard can it be to supply an undamaged part?"

I've emailed Graham at JP including the pictures and asked for a replacement to be sent, I've also asked if they require the old one back (if they say 'yes' members will know to make a point that they don't want my cast offs when they buy one!)

At this point I want to say that I've always been 100% happy with JP overall and that won't change if this situtation is resolved, which I'm sure it will.

HKevin - I've been getting my panels from Rimmers and have sent back several where they just weren't good enough or where we found a SOCTFL improved version. They have been excellent and have refunded me willingly. They also supplied me with full length Left and Right floorpans. See pic attached.

What do you make of this reply?

They are all the same Kevin
And always have been,a lot of customers complain on arrival at the appearance.
All of which will not be an issue once fitted to outriggers etc.
Most likely when the 100 ton press bed comes down and ejects the waste steel it distorts.
                          Regards

                            Hi Kevin,

I agree with the sentiment of the reply - ie. it will be ok when fitted. I just think the service is a bit cr@p, if the description of the item when you ordered it had a note saying something like 'please be aware that the finish of the leading edge will require fettling' with an image you'd order it with full knowledge.

Alternatively, JP could stick the leading edge in a large vice before sending out, then you wouldn't have known the difference.

I'm sure it will be fine when fitted.....

                            cheers.........Andy

It will straighten out when you are fitting it, you'll need to use clamps and a panel hammer even when fitting a perfect replacement. All you need to worry about is whether it's the right size.
