Halfords Antifreeze - they have 2 types of 'blue' - Silicate (contains ethylene glycol) and Premium MEG (contains mono ethylene glycol). Any thoughts on the suitability or preference for either?

Dave.
According to the usual research engine, avoid the silicate version and go for the standard ethylene glycol (with corrosion protection). The retailer in question should know what is right for a Classic car with steel and aluminium engine components, but perhaps that is a bit too much to ask!

I've just bought two 5l containers of traditional antifreeze from a company called Smith and Allan, based in Darlington, via e-bay. Ordered late Wednesday evening, delivered to West Sussex via UPS at lunchtime today! £37.98 for two.

After reading the responses I did a bit more googling and came across this page https://www.mg-cars.org.uk/imgytr/hi...antifreeze.pdf
So this indicates the Silicate one is correct. But there is very little technical detail available from Halfords.'72 Manual O/d Saffron Yellow
