    Tonneau cover re-trimming

Having finished my interior I must now turn my attention to the tonneau cover, which I stripped about two and a half years ago, and which got painted along with the rest of the car. I have the kit including foam and vinyl from Aldridge, though these appear to be way oversize, requiring trimming to fit. I searched the Forum for any tips regarding how to go about the job, but didn't find anything. If anybody can offer any words of wisdom based upon their own experience, they would be gratefully received. Thanks in advance - Dave

I remember the biggest difficulty was reinstalling the trim around the seat back cut out. I had to be very careful not to cut the material as I pushed it over the lip.

Thanks guys. Drew - that's great; will be really helpful. Looks like you did it with the cover still on the car - would you think that's easier than with it removed?

        Cheers - Dave.

I for one would definitely take it off the car, no chance of spilled glue or slipped drills on my nice paintwork! What is it.. 4 bolts?

To be honest, I can't remember why I did it that way. I probably wanted to get the locks, hinges, seals and positioning all adjusted and greased or oiled before I started putting upholstery bit on.

              Do like a beige interior....!
Yours same as mine, is/was originally black, I never thought of just replacing the seat and door handle trim, I like it.

Original interior colour of my car was Beige (74) but at some time it had been changed to black - black seats and carpets, but door cards, armrests, cubbies & b-posts just painted over. I was keen to revert to original, but didn't fancy the total beige-out, so put in new black door cards, cubbies and carpets plus re-covered the b-post trims, but re-covered seats in Light Beige from Aldridge, who also re-trimmed the armrests to match. Handbrake gaiter is also Light Beige. I like it, though I'm not sure if I should have left the armrests black.

No that was the part that I liked to link the colour into the seats. Often car makers go beige seats and carpets and aprts from the keeping it clear it can be a bit much. Noticed recently that beige seats and black carpets seems normal, it's what I noticed about yours.
                  Are the seat covers leather..?
My drivers seat cover needs replacing, I've heard that they can be a pain to get the new covers on.

As a last resort you might find something in the Technical Section about recovering the seats.

When I did my tan interior I had a pair of manky tan armrests and a nice black pair, thought why not? In the end I quite like it, I also ditched the tan T bar cover and windscreen surround that came in the Aldridge kit and substituted black ones. as you say breaks up the sea of tan!
