    Handbrake Dust Cover

The rubber dust covers on my handbrake levers have disintegrated so I purchased a couple of replacements from a well known Stag parts supplier.......having thought they would just slide over the levers and seat in the backplate....how wrong I was. Firstly the slot in the rubber appears to be too small....easily enlarged but then how does the the cover secure to the backplate?? There appears to be 4 metal "tags" over which one would assume the cover clips but this is so tight it can't be right.......does anyone know how the dust covers secure to the backplates?

i had a similar issue with my first set from Rimmers. they ripped. left it like that for a long time. then bought some from JP. still tight but did not rip. I used a dental pick to carefully stretch the rubber over the 4 tags.

Thanks for your prompt reply sujitroy...... reassuring to know its not just me having this problem....I'll try your dental pick technique. I thought of using some silicone fluid to lubricate the rubber in order to get the cover stretched over the tags but in retrospect this might also ease the cover slipping off too! So I will try dry first to see how I get on......

The last ones I bought were from here. Fitted well and seem durable: http://www.ldpart.co.uk/shop/shop.ph...e382396a4a9dc0
